Student Council
Palmer Ridge High School Student Council
Palmer Ridge High School's Student Council works to better the school community at Palmer Ridge while focusing on a positive leadership curriculum.  We use our school events, such as dances, spirit projects, and philanthropic programs, as a way to learn the process and value of leadership.  The Council is organized into six committees that each tackle various areas of leadership at our school, each led by an elected Chair who is in charge of that committee and its members.  The Presidents lead the Council by overseeing the work of the committees, running the class time, and providing communication between the students, faculty, administration, and parents of Palmer Ridge.  Our students are dedicated to our school as well as their own opportunity to learn about and practice becoming better leaders; here at Palmer Ridge as well as in their futures.
GO BEARS!

Council Committees
Members of the PR Student Council are organized into six committees that each are responsible for different projects.  Members of each committee rotate three times a year as to provide everyone with a well-rounded experience while in the Council.  For more information, refer to the PRHS Student Council Constitution.

Bear Committee
The Bear Commimttee is responsible for showing appreciation to the staff at PRHS.  They work to ensure that each staff member knows that they are appreciated by their students.  Bear Committee plans events like Teacher Breakfasts, Dinners, and "Teachers Night Out", which offers a free monthly babysitting opportunity for PRHS faculty.

Leadership Committee
The Leadership Committee is responsible for planning bonding activities that increase the level of teamwork within the Council.  They plan events such as Council lock-ins, campouts, new member activities, as well as smaller events like bowling nights and dinners.

Social Committee
The Social Committee is in charge of planning school wide events throughout the year. They work to brainstorm ideas for large dances (Homecoming, Snowball, and Prom) as well as smaller social functions throughout the year (BBQs, games, etc).  The Social Committee works to collect supplies, make decorations, and communicate with vendors in regards to the dances and smaller events.

Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee is in charge of planning events and activities throughout the year to raise funds specifically for the Council.  These events could include working with larger fundraising businesses as well as with local restaurants and businesses within the greater Monument area.

Philanthropy Committee
The Philanthropy Committee is responsible for planning both school wide and Student Council specific philanthropic opportunities and community events throughout the year.  They will also make these opportunities available to the student population and the Council.  This also includes heading up Palmer Ridge High School’s outreach efforts to the greater Monument, El Paso County, and Colorado communities.

Spirit Committee
The Spirit Committee is in charge of activities that increase school spirit as well as producing posters and publicity for Student Council programs and events.  They work to plan spirit activities such as dress up days and assemblies.  The committee also works closely with the Ridge Rage school spirit club to plan spirit activities and improve attendance at PRHS sports and arts events.

Social Media
Palmer Ridge's Student Council has embraced social media as a modern and effective way to communicate with the student body of PRHS as well as with each other.  Student Council maintains the school's Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts.
